Common Ways to Treat Infertility
If you have been craving to be pregnant and you have left no stone unturned in your endeavor to conceive, then the only remaining option is medical assistance. Go for medical help that specializes in infertility treatment. In this article, I mention some of the common medical procedures used to attempt to cure infertility. No method guarantees a healthy pregnancy outcome.
Assisted Reproduction Fertility Treatments for Reproductive Success
The medical experts define “assisted reproduction” as a condition when medical help is provided to bring about reproduction in couples facing fertility problems. Standard fertility cure procedures include:
Intrauterine insemination (IUI): This process is also called artificial insemination. This process is usually undertaken simultaneously with hormone medication (this is administered to enhance the development of the egg). This kind of treatment assists couples if they complain of low sperm count, a case of infertility that has failed diagnosis, or in cases of cervical mucus disorder. Here the semen is accumulated, a catheter is inserted in the female’s vagina and cervix right into her uterus and the sperms are introduced with the help of the catheter.
In vitro fertilization (IVF): IVF is considered to be one of the most remarkable advancements in the last three decades. It is the procedure most often recommended in cases of infertility. It is generally the best procedure if the woman has physical deformities like if her fallopian tubes are obstructed or if the male sperm count is very low or if the reason for infertility cannot be found. IVF has been proficient and effective in impregnating women no matter what the cause of infertility has been. In this process, the woman has to take medicines that will enhance the development of eggs in her ovule. The matured eggs are then taken out via surgery. The eggs are placed in a petri dish, the sperms are introduced and fertilization is carried out. The zygote is then placed inside the uterus of the woman. “Test tube babies” is what babies born in this manner are called.
Sperm contribution: This is a great way that often leads to conception. This is used if the man in the relationship is infertile or has a low sperm count or if a woman wants to conceive and be a single parent. The person who donates the sperms, in most cases, is unknown- however, it can also be a friend or an associate.
The usage of contributed eggs is common when a woman wishes to conceive even though her eggs cannot be used or she suffers from some ovulation disorder. In this case, donated eggs are utilized.
Conventional or Gestational Surrogacy now called Gestational Carriers: Traditional surrogacy is a procedure in which a woman termed as the “surrogate or carrier” carries her own child through the 9 months- a child born out of her own egg and the sperm of the father-to-be through the process of artificial insemination. In gestational surrogacy, a woman called the “surrogate or carrier” holds a child for 9 months- this child is formed when the mother-to-be’s egg is fertilized with the father-to-be’s sperm through in vitro fertilization process. This zygote is put in the surrogate’s uterus.
Cost of Gestational Surrogacy or a Gestational Carrier:
Gestational surrogate fee: $25,000 to $35,000, though compensation is typically higher for a multiple pregnancy.
Health insurance: $15,000 to $30,000 for supplemental or special coverage for the gestational surrogate.
Gestational surrogate’s nonmedical expenses: $10,000 to $15,000.
Legal fees: $14,000.
Common Choices for Fertility Cures
Be cautious and decide carefully the fertility plan that you choose. It is advisable that you take your doctor’s advice on this matter. Look into the financial section too as infertility treatments are extremely costly and infertility insurance policies are not common at all. Some policies cover the costs only selectively and some do not cover the costs at all. You also need to take care of your faith and belief when undertaking this kind of assistance. Let your decision be one that has been agreed upon by both man and woman- your doctor will be able to help you best in this matter, so do consult them and select the program that you feel is the best for you
