Symptoms Of Pregnancy Back Pain
Symptoms Of Pregnancy Back Pain
There are usually two type of pregnancy back pains that I have mentioned here. During pregnancy, back pain is fairly common, but it should not be accepted as just part of the process. You should always treat back pain in order to make your pregnancy as pleasant as possible.
1- Lumbar Back Pain
Lumbar back pain during pregnancy occurs at or above the waist in the center of the back. The pain may radiate into your leg or foot. It is similar to the low back pain experienced by non-pregnant women. Tenderness may be present in the upper back muscles. Pregnancy back pain usually increases if you are sitting in the same position for a long period of time, or sitting in general for a long period of time. Repetitive lifting can also increase pain.
2- Posterior Pelvic Pain
Pain in the back of the pelvis is more common than lumbar pain in pregnancy. It occurs in your side, at the waistline, or across the tailbone (sacrum) or in both places. You may have deep pain on one or both sides. This pain may radiate into the buttocks and the backs of the upper thigh. Pubic and groin pain may also be present.
Pelvic pain can be brought on by most activities. If you are physically fit before and during pregnancy, you may or may not have as much back pain. If you are at term with your pregnancy, constant low back pain can be the beginning of early labor.
